Final Week To Submit to FARM Official Showcase

Monday, May 26, 2014 – Musicians interested in performing in Official Showcases at this fall’s Folk Alliance Region Midwest (FARM) Conference in St. Louis, Missouri have until midnight Saturday to submit their entries.

FARM is once again partnering with The Listening Room Network to coordinate the online submission process (here).  Jeff Robertson has once again agreed to return as showcase committee coordinator.

Musicians wishing to apply to perform in the Official Showcase are asked to submit 2 songs representing their work, preferably in video format.   The best submissions would demonstrate the musician performing before a live audience.  Online application is available here.

FARM is also seeking nominations for the annual Folk Tradition in the Midwest Lifetime Award.  The award is given to a living individual who resides in the Midwest and whose involvement in the Midwest folk music and dance community: 1) has been of significant duration, 25 years or more; 2) has been of significant intensity; 3) has involved significant service to the Midwest folk community; 4) has reached, and reaches, beyond a single sector, such as concert performance, into the wider community; and 5) has extended folk music and/or dance outward, into the wider community.  More information and a nomination form is available here.

The annual 2014 FARM conference will be held October 23-26 at the Sheraton Wetport Chalet Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri. Discounts for early registration is still available.  Full conference registration for Folk Alliance members prior to the September 1 deadline is $90.  After that date registration becomes $110, and increases to $130 after October 1.  First-time attendees and returning venues may register prior to the September 1 deadline for $60, which increases to $80 after September 1 and $100 after October 1.  Other conference registration options include a Friday or Saturday only package.  More information on conference registration is available here.
