KC Cafe Road Show Comes To Richmond, Missouri July 17

UPDATE: Due to ground conditions at the Richmond Ampitheater, this event has been moved to the Richmond City Hall Gymnasium, 205 Summit.  KC Cafe Radio’s second in its "Road Show 2009" series of concerts features three exceptionally talented musicians from Kansas City.  The event takes place  from 7-9 Friday night, July 17 at the Richmond, Missouri City Hall Gymnasium at 205 Summit.  More information is available here.

The evening’s line-up includes regional favorites Jim Abel, Rick Malsick, and Forrest Whitlow.

“We’re thrilled to have these talented musicians performing in our lovely outdoor venue,” according to Bob Moses, who helped organize the event.

Featured Performers:

Jim Abel writes and performs a unique style of folk and alternative music, including humorous and serious songs about love, friends, and family.  Widely acclaimed for his compelling music and intelligent lyrics, Abel plays regularly in venues across the Kansas City area and surrounding communities and has received significant coverage in print and broadcast media.  Abel released his latest CD, Thunder, in May 2008.

Rick Malsick has more than 25 years of experience as a musician, songwriter, playwright, and actor.  He is an accomplished finger-style guitarist, playing mostly ragtime, jazz, and blues, with some sweet and slow tunes thrown in for good measure.  Malsick plays regularly in the Kansas City area at a variety of venues, including bars, coffeehouses, and restaurants.  His second CD, Athena, will be released this summer.

Forrest Whitlow was born In Kentucky, has lived, worked and attended school in a variety of places around the country, and now makes his home in Kansas City.  A former seminary student, his songs deal with the most serious of subjects in the best tradition of the acoustic songwriter.  His influences range from Nietzsche to Nirvana.  In other words, he is the thinking person’s folk-rocker.  Whitlow plays at coffeehouses, bars and bookshops around the Kansas City area to a devoted following.  He has produced seven CDs of his original music.
