CJ Teffner: A Life Full of Music

By: Maria Smith

For musician and KC Cafe Radio Performing Artist CJ Teffner the future is everything. The pop artist’s music is described as “quirky indie pop with a classic rock touch,” which couldn’t be more true. Based in Phoenix, Arizona the triple threat: writer, performer, producer is always doing new things and expanding his world.

Teffner began his descent into the music world at the young age of eight, when he used a coffee table as a makeshift drum set, this launched him into music lessons and school music groups, which as he aged transitioned into bands, and writing his own music as well as playing it.

His two most recent works are both Extended Play  (EP) records. The Cats Meow which features vocalist Kathie Crotty Williams, and Stars which will come out July 15.

Recently, KC Cafe Radio Music Director Kathy Forste talked with Teffner via Skype. They talk about working with others, and the power that different guitars have on the sound of music. They also talk about the meaning behind, and the process of writing a song.
