Ryan Totton has been a favorite of the KC Cafe community for quite some time. His music has been played on the station for 8 years, and his new album makes sure that streak continues. The last time he chatted with us he discussed his older album A Real Class Act and his life in Springfield, Missouri.
Totton draws ideas out of everyday things, and sometimes out of thin air. Not only did he write and play all of the instruments on his new album Underneath the Sky, he also did the vocals for it. This is a trend for the artist, who did the same thing for his last album. Although he might prefer if someone else did the vocals, his album has been doing great and has been a favorite on the Roots Music Report and the Indie Music Alliance charts.
Recently, KC Cafe Radio Music Director Kathy Forste talked with Totten via Skype. They caught up on his eclectic taste in music, his guitar playing, and how he is planning on changing some things up for his next album.
